The USS Avenger escorts the forty year old USS Appalachia as she completes her final mission and prepares for retirement in the Starfleet Museum.

Remapped the textures for the Steamrunner Class mesh I found. Just wanted to do a scene with it.

The Steamrunner class retiring? It debut on First Contact.

They invade our space and we fall back. They assimilate entire worlds and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far, no further! And *I* will make them pay for what they've done. Picard-Star Trek: First Contact
Yeah, but this is about thirty years later. The Appalachia would be at least forty by my estimates.

It's pretty freaking sweet.
I think the Streamrunner got retired a bit fast, but of course, your fanon, you call. :XD:

Nice picture! Shows the transition to the 25th century eh.

Well, in this time frame, the Appalachia would be about forty years old already, and ships rarely pass that age before retiring.

Poor little Steamrunner .D BTW, I'm retiring the Galaxy, Sovereign and Nebula in my Star Trek Forever stories (it's about the TOS crew materilaizing in the 25th century after the Genesis Incident. Thrown forward in time, they realise that they can not go back as the Genesis device dubplicated them and the Enterprise and those copies were the ones who did ST3, 4, 5, 6, 7. With the Enterprise re-fitted once again wit 25th century technology, Fleet Admiral Janeway wants her crew to set an example to follow for the overbureucratized Starfleet with their old ways. aneway also gets dir of the big old shows, saying that smaller ships, like her old Voyager, are better than the big spatial leviathans. Bye-bye, Sovvie and co :D )

Hmm... that's true, that's true. Although the class design wouldn't be outdated, the ship itself would be.

Wishing the old chap clear sailing all teh way back into the dock. =)

Precisely, and the Appalachia (which is dear to my heart as I live in the Appalachian Mountains) served valiantly in several battles, not least of which was the Battle of Sector 001. She's been through a lot, so it's only fitting that she be put in the museum.

Thank you :D

This is my answer to the TNG era. Those people just need the old school back on the ships!
